  Keyless/Illuminated Entry System

  Kickdown

A downshift in the automatic transmission caused by depressing the throttle sharply.

 
  King Ranch Leather

Available on the F-150 SuperCrew and SuperCab King Ranch Model. Dark brown Castaño leather, saddle-stitched and embossed with the King Ranch logo. The King Ranch, located in Texas, is one of the most famous ranched in the United States known for its cattle breeding and horse breeding.

 
  Kingpin

For a front axle assembly, the kingpin is a pin that connects the front axle and steering knuckles, about which the knuckles pivot. For semi-trailers, the kingpin is the pin that is locked into the fifth wheel on the pickup bed to couple the trailer with the towing vehicle.

 
  Knee Bolster

A deformable panel designed into the lower portion of most instrument panels that helps absorb and deflect the force of an impact on a front occupant’s lower body.

 
  Knock Sensor

A sensor mounted to the engine and designed to detect the high-frequency vibrations caused by detonation. By using a knock sensor, a vehicle’s engine controls can keep the engine operating near its detonation limit, thereby increasing power and efficiency.
